When choosing a food for your pet it can become overwhelming. There are so many choices with and without grains. With the question being are grains good for dogs. Yes! Grains are good. Some better than others but grains are beneficial. The health of the dog starts and finishes with nutrition. Just like humans our immune system starts in the gut. You need a food that is balanced with proteins and fats along with good vitamins and mineral. Your veterinarian or breeder will help you pick the right food for the size, breed, and age of the pet. The amount of food you feed your pet should eat is based on the activity of the pet and age. The very active puppy may require more nutrition than the elderly lap dog. You need to watch their weight closely to adjust to the right amount. Always be careful of table scrapes. This could really alter your pet’s diet. They shouldn’t consume no more than 10% of their daily diet from the table. Avoid fatty foods, moldy foods, salty foods, and raw meats.
