Our dachshunds can recognize tears when we cry. They do show empathy while still curious as to why we’re crying. They provide a sense of comfort to us during times of trial. I feel they know that our kisses are our way of showing affection. They show us signs of affection by licking us. By licking it provides them comfort and pleasure by releasing endorphins. Also, they can either like the saltiness of their owner’s skin or they lick out of habit. But they say that most dogs don’t like to be hugged. In the dog world when they put their head or paw over another dog to show dominance. They do like to cuddle when cold and that is another sign of affection. Other ways they show us that they love us is through body language. We all have seen some dogs smile, others will have great eye contact with you, and others will do some tail wagging. Most all are excited when you return home and they tell you by talking or whining. Now that we mentioned talking, we all talk to our dogs as if they understand us. They are truly amazing creature because they do understand some many words that we say to them. Sometimes they are too smart for their own good and we must spell some words. That’s always fun. We all have a very special relationship with our dogs.
